A free, public space to read, gather, and explore Islamic cultural life; bringing together books, ideas, and conversations that connect Europe and East Kent through shared histories, stories, and perspectives.

The Intersections Reading Room is now open at SD Projects, offering a free and welcoming space to read, reflect, and spend time. Open every Friday from 12–5pm, the Reading Room brings together a growing collection exploring Islamic cultural life, with particular attention to its connections across Europe and into East Kent. Visitors are invited to browse, sit, and engage at their own pace in a calm, informal setting.

The collection includes books and materials generously sourced from the Al Tajir Trust, SOAS, the Arab British Centre, and Saqi Books, forming a rich and diverse library of voices, histories, and ideas. At its core, the Reading Room is designed as a shared cultural resource—part library, part meeting place—where knowledge is accessible and conversation is encouraged.

Launching on Friday 3rd April, the first curated reading list by writer and researcher Tharik Hussain offers an entry point into themes of Muslim Europe, travel, and identity. The Reading Room will continue to evolve over time, shaped by contributors, collaborators, and the communities who use it.

Open Fridays 12pm - 5pm
